The New Streichersalon

In 2007 I moved to the famous Ungargasse (Hungarian street) in the 3rd district of Vienna.
The Ungargasse is a very important street in the history of Viennese music.
Just a few blocks down the street, in the apartment Ungargasse 5, Beethoven worked on his Missa Solemnis in 1819 and on his famous 9th Symphony, in cold winter 1823/1824.
My neighbourhouse, Ungargasse 46, is the former Streicherhof, where Andreas Streicher and Nanette Stein founded their famous piano firm.
They where close friends of Beethoven and inventors of the Wiener Mechanik of the hammerklavier.
In 1812 Streicher built a concert hall here. “Haus Streicher” was one of the most beloved concert halls in Vienna.
It became a renowned center for chamber music and for Viennese musicians.
Beethovens latest piano and chamber music pieces were performed on Sunday afternoons for the upper class audience.
Before the Musikverein was founded, the Streicherhof was the most important concert hall in Vienna.
Spring 2025 I will restore the tradition of chamber music concerts in the Ungargasse and start the New Streichersalon, giving my piano and chamber music students a stage to perform their concert-repertoire in a pleasant environment and in return offering a circle of friends beautiful music with a homely atmosphere.
